Engineers at Duke University have developed a camera able to take photos with up to one billion pixels of resolution. The 'AWARE2' gigapixel camera uses 98 sensors each at 14 megapixels, capable of detecting detail from as far as 1 kilometer away. The current model weighs in at approximately 100 pounds, and only shoots in black and white.
