Japanese artist Lyota Yagi will often introduce elements referencing music into his artwork - with a recently developed series focusing on fading audio formats most of us can remember from our youth.
Yagi fabricates a tangible geometry from the devices through splicing, dissecting and arranging CDs and vinyl records to create elaborate compositions, curling and twisting across the canvas. in another exploration, he re-envisions the humble cassette tape, manipulating the supply reel into various shapes such as triangles and squares.
The collection proffers another purpose for the outdated objects - conjuring rather nostalgic memories of a dying era.
